About us
|
|
CAWA is a
Voluntary Social Welfare Agency registered under Voluntary
Social Welfare Agency Ordinance 1961. Since 1992, CAWA has
been serving the poor through the development of business by
providing credit, business training, marketing and technical
assistance. Our mission is to promote economic growth to the
benefit of and in partnership with poor people in Low Income
Categories. This is accomplished through a business-oriented
approach to development, which results in sustainable
Enterprises. Our basic concerns in this sector are the women,
they are supported by developing their skills firstly and
supporting them financially latterly so they can look after
their domestic financial affairs effectively.
Through
CAWA’s economic development programs, about 1,000 jobs are
created or sustained in Rawalpindi. It is estimated that 1000
jobs need to be created every day if poverty is to be
alleviated in Pakistan. The poor–tailors, vendors, shoemakers,
bakers, builders, etc, will create most of these jobs. The
jobs will come from the poor producing affordable goods and
services for their neighbours. The poor have the expertise
they just need the credit. Since 1996, CAWA has been providing
capital–the lifeblood of business everywhere, to small
businesses in Rawalpindi. CAWA has done a tremendous job in
the recent floods that hit Rawalpindi. It has distributed
Rations, Camps, Medicine, Cloths, Bedding Uniforms and books
for students. It also helped the effected areas by
construction of Latrines and installation of water
pumps. |
